    [Pre-cast] Penn State Hershey Medical Center Parking Garage


    Within the context of the architecturally significant campus, the white precast concrete made with Cementir’s Lehigh White Cement has been selected by architect of     Lamar Johnson Collaborative for constructing the parking garage.
        
    The 3-D wave elements borrowing the landscaping inspirations of hills and river were produced by High Concrete Group. Design team found ways to maximize formworks while keeping engineering stability and minimizing design changes to significantly achieve the cost-saving requirements. The project is one of the 2021 PCI Building Award Winners.

    KEY PROJECT ATTRIBUTES

    -Three-dimensional curved spandrels reflect Pennsylvania’s rolling hills.
    -Designers used Rhino and Tekla tools to meet exact weight requirements.
    -The 8-ft overhang cantilever entrance was created in two pours to accommodate its massive depth.

    PROJECT/PRECAST SCOPE

    -Build a 1235-space, four-story, all–precast concrete parking structure with room for expansion.
    -The project included 771 total pieces of precast concrete made with Aalborg White cement.
    -Erection was completed in four months.
